Chikungunya Fever: A Case Report
The Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a single-stranded RNA Togaviridae Alphavirus genus. It was first isolated in humans in 1952 in Tanzania. Transmission occurs only via vectors, principally mosquitoes, Aedes aegypti. A cycle of man-mosquito transmission is required. Over the years, it has been ignored as a potential threat, which affects mostly developing countries.
